Scenes from Anguilla

At the end of last year when snow was falling all around us I was fortunate enough to visit the tropical island of Anguilla to photograph an amazing wedding with some of the sweetest people I've met.  I usually like to share more images and type less since that is where I excel, but I wanted to take a moment to thank the wonderful clients (really, friends) that I've met along this journey.  You truly make my job incredible and I feel so fortunate to be able to capture the special moments of your weddings wherever they might be.  Cheers to an excellent 2014!  I do realize we're already in April...

The full wedding will be posted soon in all it's beauty, but for now here's a little preview of that gorgeous little island.

Engagement // Kelly + Guy

When I first met Kelly she mentioned bringing her dog, Henry, along for engagement photos and I jumped at the chance.  I'm a huge fan of pets in photos (cats, dogs, you name it!) because it brings a whole new level of emotion to the photos.  Henry was a very enthusiastic model and complimented his glamorous owners perfectly! It was such a treat to photograph this sweet trio.  Congratulations Kelly + Guy!

Engagement // Kathryn + Andy

Kathryn + Andy were married a few weeks ago at the lovely Green Building in Brooklyn, but I thought that I'd still like to share their sweet engagement photos.  We got out of the city to find some open spaces and had a great time exploring, eating froyo (because why not?) and discussing burgers in the Twin Cities.  I'm so happy for these two and all that's to come!

Congratulations Kathryn + Andy!

Engagement // Alice + Lenny

Remember those warm months?  Oh, how I'm missing them.  Bring forward Alice + Lenny and their fun engagement shoot that we did in their Brooklyn Heights neighborhood.  They took me to some of their favorite spots (a great idea for engagement shoots) and while I'm not sure that I could actually make a list of my top 5 neighborhoods in Brooklyn, I imagine Brooklyn Heights would be right up there.  The views, the brownstones... I'll take it all.  Walking around with these two definitely increased it's rating.  They're so sweet, totally in love and getting married in an awesome venue next year.  I'm so happy to get to be a part of their day. Congratulations Alice + Lenny!

Engagement // Brigid + Nick

Well, hello 2014.  Nice to see you and I realize it's time to get back on track with blogging!  Last year was quite a wonderful one that began with a Brooklyn wedding and ended with an Anguilla one and everything in between was equally as wonderful.  I want to say, again, a huge congratulations to everyone who tied the knot last year.

That being said I'm looking forward to 2014 just as much.  I just got back from Australia where I witnessed some of my best friends getting married (I wasn't the photographer) and this year has me traveling for weddings from Brooklyn (yeah!) to upstate New York to the Berkshires and even Hong Kong!  It's shaping up to be an incredible year.

Now onto this engagement shoot that makes me really happy…

As a NYC photographer I feel very strongly about my city as a fantastic backdrop for engagement sessions and weddings, but when Brigid and Nick contacted me from Baltimore I have to admit that I jumped at the chance.  They gave me a tour of their city and I got to see all of the great industrial details that remind me of my very own neighborhood in Brooklyn.  We started at their alma mater, Loyola, and wandered through a few neighborhoods before it started raining down by the docks.  It really couldn't have been more perfect.   Rain gets a bad rap, but with some clear umbrellas, smiles and lots of love it's one of the most romantic backdrops.  Congratulations B+N and see you in Baltimore soon!

Featured // Style Me Pretty

Has it really been two months since my last post?  I think that's an indicator of what an amazing and fulfilling wedding season I've had.  There have been incredible venues, sweet vows and smooth dance moves and I'm so thankful for these amazing couples who let me capture their special days.   I seem to say that a lot, but it's always true.  In fact, I'll stop talking and just show you what I mean.  Here are some recent weddings of mine that were featured on Style Me Pretty.  Click on the badges below to see the full galleries and enjoy!

Lindsay + Julian // Flatbush Farm

A beautiful backyard wedding at Flatbush Farm in Brooklyn. Lindsay + Julian got ready at the stunning Wythe Hotel beforehand and I must admit that it is my new favorite hotel in all of NYC. The views can't be beat and those floor to ceiling windows are a photographer's dream.

I loved the details and L+J obviously put some time into them with the help of the wonderful Jove Meyer Events.  Lindsay's brother designed the stunning Ketubah and their gift for guests was a unique cookbook compiled from all the guests'  favorite recipes.  Such a great idea!

Kate + Andrew // Poughkeepsie, NY

This winter wedding will be make you excited for the colder weather we're having!  Kate + Andrew were married in Poughkeepsie earlier this year on a chilly day when there were still signs of snow and we took full advantage of it.  There may or may not have even been a snowball fight amongst the groomsmen pre-ceremony.

Lots of happy tears, gorgeous details and the bride's sister made the delicious cupcakes!  I loved it and I think you will to.

Tammy + Dan // Long Island Backyard Wedding

Pizza, puppies and peonies.   Does it get much better?  I almost don't want to say anything else because those three words make me pretty happy, but that wouldn't be doing this wedding justice.  There was so much more if you can even believe it!

The flower girls and ring bearer had awesome balloons to walk down the aisle with and the food was an amazing mix of sushi, Roberta's Pizza, Lassi Pops and Luke's Lobster rolls. Woah.  Not to mention that the wedding took place in the family backyard and was stunning.  Tammy + Dan were smiling (almost) as big as that puppy dog over there the whole day and I'm so happy for them!
